UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Campus Recreation, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, now offers payroll deduction for Penn State faculty and staff memberships. By registering for the payroll deduction, an annual membership for campus recreation can be purchased for $19 a month.

The payroll deduction function, which is only available for faculty and staff, gives members an easy and automated option for payment. To set up a payroll deduction, visit the IM Building during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Faculty or staff members who are interested in learning more about Campus Recreation memberships are invited to a faculty/staff open house from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the IM Building. All Penn State employees are invited to visit the building for free; visitors can tour the facilities, try out the equipment and register for a membership if interested.

In addition to faculty and staff memberships, Campus Recreation offers memberships for spouses/partners, Penn State retirees and Alumni Association members.

A Campus Recreation membership grants access to the IM Building, White Building, Natatorium, and Hepper Fitness Center for all informal recreational activities. Access to weight-training areas, cardio spaces, the indoor track at the IM Building, the pools at the Natatorium and White Building, basketball courts, a bouldering wall, racquetball courts, squash courts, table tennis areas, and over 100 drop-in group fitness classes are all included with the membership. Members can also check out most on-site equipment for use in those spaces at no additional charge.

Lockers are available to rent for storage with a small charge per semester.

Membership pricing for faculty, staff, retirees and spouses/partners is:

  • $230 – annual (valid for one year from date of purchase)
  • $95 – per semester
  • $50 – one month (valid for 30 days from the date of purchase)

For more information, or to purchase a membership online, visit the Campus Recreation membership page.

Please note: It may take seven to 10 business days from a faculty/staff member's Penn State employment start date before their information populates in the membership system to allow them to log in and purchase a membership. Contact recmembership@psu.edu with any questions.
