UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jill Stockwell, director of the Prison Teaching Initiative at Princeton University, will present “A Shared Longing: Rewriting Nazim Hikmet in Turkish and Turkish-German Literature, 1963-2017” at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, in 102 Kern Building on Penn State’s University Park campus.
Stockwell previously was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton affiliated with the University Center for Human Values. She holds a doctorate in comparative literature from Princeton and was a Fulbright and Social Science Research Council fellow. Her scholarship examines the intersection between Turkish and Turkish-German literary and cultural studies, and her current project focuses on the troubled relationship between incarceration and democracy in the Turkish and American contexts.
