Penn State Dickinson School of Law has been ranked No. 10 on PreLaw magazine’s list of Best Law School Facilities in the nation in the Fall 2014 issue.

In a comprehensive report that listed the top 55 law school facilities in the country, Penn State’s Dickinson Law was noted as PreLaw magazine conducted a review of all of the country’s law schools (over 200), looking at various sources such as staff visits, Princeton Review reports and publications, and objective data from those schools’ libraries to examine square footage per student, library hours, and seats per library. PreLaw researchers also looked at various amenities available to law students at each school and aesthetic factors as well as student feedback. The aesthetics and student feedback portion of the results accounted for 35 percent of the total score, library information for 27.5 percent, amenities for 20 percent, and square footage per student for 17.5 percent.

The new ranking comes roughly five years after the law school’s extensive renovation of Trickett Hall and opening of Lewis Katz Hall, named in honor of the principal donor to the project, philanthropist and businessman, Lewis Katz. Katz Hall opened in January 2010 after a two-year, $52 million construction project which completely interconnected the Law School with Penn State’s University Park campus via the most advanced high-definition, digital audiovisual telecommunications system available. Lewis Katz Hall was built to comply with LEED standards and feature state-of-the-art classrooms, a new courtroom/auditorium, an exterior courtyard, and an environmentally friendly vegetated green roof.
