Digital media producer, company founder opens Journalism Speakers Forum

Session with Juleyka Lantigua Williams begins spring schedule for series on Feb. 2

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Juleyka Lantigua Williams, a digital media producer who founded her own company, which has earned numerous awards in its first three years of existence, will discuss her approach to storytelling and participate in a question-and-answer session Feb. 2 as part of the Journalism Speakers Forum, which features weekly speakers during the spring semester at Penn State.

Lantigua Williams founded Lantigua Williams & Co. after 18-plus years in media. Her session will begin at 7 p.m. on Zoom.

Her company’s mission is to support and amplify the work of creators from the margins in digital audio and film. This year, the company received a Peabody nomination, earned silver in the audio documentary category at the New York International Radio Festival, and won its first Third Coast Award, also known as “The Oscars of Audio.”

Over the last three years as a founder/CEO, Williams has created overlapping practices in team building, project management and collaborative networks to ensure that LW&C is a creator-centered company, or Triple C, as she calls it. During her, she will expand on how she came to the idea for “the arc of intentionality,” how she tested it, deploys it and fine tunes it as her teams grow. Williams, a Fulbright Scholar, holds a master’s degree in journalism and a master of fine arts in nonfiction writing.

The series of special guest presentations was coordinated by Will Yurman, the Norman Eberly Professor of Practice in Journalism in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications. Yurman serves as host for the weekly discussions. Videos of previous visitors for the forum may be found online.
