During the summer break, Penn State Lehigh Valley’s Esports Club flew out-of-state to attend the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) Conference. The Esports Club at Penn State Lehigh Valley is a social club for people who share a love for video games. The members of the club traveled together to EVO, held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Aug. 3-5.
According to the event website, EVO is the world’s largest fighting game event. EVO hosts a variety of fighting game tournaments where gamers from all over the world can meet up and compete.
Jared McComb, senior information sciences and technology major and president of the Esports Club, has gone to the convention three times.
“I enjoyed spending time with all of my friends,” said McComb. “We got to bond over these games we love so much and were able to train and compete with each other.”
