UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s senior faculty mentor will present a faculty forum panel discussion for the Penn State community titled "White Supremacism at Penn State: What it Does, How to Fix It" at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in Freeman Auditorium in the HUB-Robeson Cultural Center at University Park.
Moderated by Keith Gilyard, senior faculty mentor and Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of English and African American Studies, the panel will explore the following topics: honest talk on racism, racism as a management issue, white privilege is white exception, and the evaluation process for promotion and tenure.
Panelists will include Michael Bérubé, Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of Literature; Errol A. Henderson, associate professor of political science; Matthew Woessner, chair of the Penn State University Faculty Senate and associate professor of political science and public policy at Penn State Harrisburg; and Cynthia A. Young, head of the Department of African American Studies, interim director of the Africana Research Center, and associate professor of African American studies and English.
The panel is co-sponsored by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center.
