The Farmers Market in Hershey and Summer Concert Series will officially return for its seventh season on Thursday, May 26. The market will be open from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday through October.
Opening day will include the Third Annual Happy and Healthy Hershey 5K Run/Walk to benefit the market. For more information, or to register for the race, click here.
New vendors at the market this year include:
- Amaranth Bakery: Gluten free bread and other baked goods made in a 100 percent dedicated gluten free facility
- Rafiki’s Deli: Authentic African food, prepared for carryout, such as Samosas, a pastry stuffed with veggies and/or meat and special African spices
- Little Peace Farm: A small, full-time, family farming operation offering a wide selection of chemical-free produce, cut flowers, herbs, and more
- Lancaster County Honey and Jam: A small family-owned apiary selling raw, local wildflower, buckwheat, alfalfa and clover honey, as well as specialty honeys from personally managed hives, along with homemade jams from local fruit
A free summer concert series from 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday will highlight both regional and national musicians. Free children's activities, community wellness programs, arts, and other programming will also be featured.
Several community outreach programs are run in conjunction with the market, including Wellness on Wheels, which delivers market products to underserved areas in Dauphin County, and Prevention Produce, an initiative led by College of Medicine students to provide "prescriptions" for fruits and vegetables to families with at-risk children who are patients at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The Farmers Market in Hershey is located on the grounds of the Cocoa Beanery off of Bullfrog Valley Road. For more information and a list of summer concerts, click here. Also, find real-time updates on the market on Facebook and Twitter.
