Financial Literacy Month programming continues into May

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center has online study and assessment resources and virtual events

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will continue its programming for Financial Literacy Month in April and early May with guest speakers for two virtual webinars. Members of the Penn State community can also take advantage of financial literacy resources at financialliteracy.psu.edu.

Webinar: Salary negotiation

From noon to 1 p.m. on April 20, Matt Ishler will present during a webinar on salary negotiation. Ishler is the associate director for career counseling at the Penn State Career Services Center. For 20 years Ishler has assisted students in all aspects of the career development process from identifying career goals to planning a path through internship and job searches.

Webinar: Car shopping

Two guest speakers will present a webinar on car shopping from noon to 1 p.m. on May 4.

Rob DeMayo is the director of Transportation Services at Penn State and is responsible for the strategy and and operation of all transportation-related functions for the University Park campus. These responsibilities include oversight of parking, fleet, transit and sustainable transportation operations. DeMayo joined the University on 2014, bringing with him more than two decades of transportation planning and operations experience, on four continents. Prior to Penn State, he was the director of European operations and responsible for bus services for the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

Amber Quimby is the fleet vehicle manager at Fleet Operations at Penn State, under Transportation Services. As a part of her job she is responsible for the purchasing, maintenance and disposal of 450-600 University-owned vehicles. The vehicles managed include: a daily rental pool for faculty and staff; campus and Hershey shuttles, buses and trolleys; University Police and Public Safety vehicles; Mail Services vehicles; and other various departmental vehicles that are used long-term. Quimby joined the University in 2019, after working as a production controller with a focus in maintenance for almost two decades.

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
