UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Due to the positive response from the Penn State community, the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will host trivia two more times in May.

With April being National Financial Literacy Month, the Sokolov-Miller Family Center added a wide variety of programming to its normal monthly schedule of events. Due to the strong participation in April, staff from the center will offer trivia again on May 14 and 28 from 4-5 p.m. Participants can join with this Zoom link and are encouraged to stick around after trivia and talk privately with center staff about any financial concerns or questions.

The center will also offer two Tuesday webinars in May: "Student Loans" at noon on May 5 and "Mortgages" at noon on May 19. Both can be accessed through this Zoom link.

The May 5 Student Loans webinar will teach attendees the difference between federal and private student loans; terminology and resources; how to be a responsible borrower; how to enter loan repayment gracefully; and how to manage repayment.

On May 19, the Mortgages webinar will cover the key terms you need to know about when dealing with mortgages; components of the mortgage; first-time homebuying and the search process; ways to improve your chance of getting a good mortgage; and amortization schedules for mortgages.

Self-study modules on both webinar topics are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
