UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will hold five public, virtual events in October. A full calendar of financial literacy events, including their Zoom links, can be found at financialliteracy.psu.edu.

Virtual trivia events

Three rounds of trivia are scheduled for 4-5 p.m. Oct. 1, 15 and 29. After trivia, participants are encouraged to stick around for a “Finlit Five,” where they can talk privately with center staff about any financial concerns or questions.

Webinars

October’s two financial literacy webinars will be “Time Value of Money,” from noon-1 p.m. Oct. 6; and “Saving and Investing,” from noon-1 p.m. Oct. 20.

In “Time Value of Money,” webinar participants will learn about interest rates, APR, amortization and the time value of money impact on debts and investments. “Saving and Investing” will also cover interest and some aspects of the time value of money, but also how to decide between saving and investing, risk assessment, savings and investment vehicles and planning for retirement.

Self-study modules for all webinars are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”
