UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Society for Indian Music and Arts and Nritya, both student organizations at Penn State, will present the fourth annual Happy Valley Indian Performing Arts Festival from April 6-8 at locations around University Park and State College.
As central Pennsylvania’s largest Indian music and dance event, the festival will feature top artists from across India performing a variety of classic Indian dances, music forms and instruments.
The festival schedule is as follows:
April 6
7 p.m. — Vidwan T.V. Sankaranarayanan and troupe, Carnatic Vocal Music, 134 HUB-Robeson Center
8:45 p.m. — Anupama Bhagwat, Sitar Recital, 134 HUB-Robeson Center
April 7
5 p.m. — Understanding Yakshagana: An Introduction, Park Forest Middle School Auditorium, State College
6:45 p.m. — Yakshagana Kala Vrind, Excerpts from the Ramayana, Park Forest Middle School Auditorium, State College
April 8
5 p.m. — Lalitha Sindhuri, Kuchipudi Dance of Andhra Pradesh, Flex Theater, HUB-Robeson Center
6:45 p.m. — Sohini Ray, Manipuri Dance of Northeastern India, Flex Theater, HUB-Robeson Center

The Society for Indian Music and Arts is dedicated to the preservation and propagation of traditional Indian performing art forms. Likewise, Nritya’s mission is to facilitate an introduction to and nurture and present the traditional dance forms of India to the Penn State community.
