SHARON, Pa. -- A free children’s Halloween party, sponsored by Penn State Shenango and benefiting THON and other campus clubs, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in the Shenango campus auditorium located across from the Sharon Post Office in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania. The event is open to the public — children must be accompanied by a parent.Kids will have fun in a safe and friendly environment while decorating treat bags for trick or treating during the party and listening and dancing to monster music, plus lots more freaky fun. Prizes will be given to different age groups for best costume. Crafts and food will be available to purchase. All proceeds will be donated to THON.THON — the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Council Dance Marathon — is the largest student run philanthropy in the world, where Penn State students raise money to create awareness opportunities, fund research and assist children and their families struggling with the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1977, when THON was first established, students have raised millions of dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund. This effort engages more than 15,000 Penn State students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 2014, the Shenango campus raised approximately $10,000 to help children who have cancer.
