UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Holiday spirit was the order of the day on Dec. 8 at The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center, when about 100 families gathered to create their own gingerbread masterpiece while supporting THON.
The second annual gingerbread house decorating event, sponsored by Penn State Auxiliary & Business Services and the Penn State Bakery, raised $5,270 for THON.
The Penn State Bakery provided each group with a preassembled gingerbread house and decorating supplies. Guests enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate as they worked on their gingerbread creations.
“We had a great crowd, and the accommodations at The Penn Stater were first-rate,” said Jim Richard, director of Penn State Residential Dining. “So many people donated their time to plan and execute such a great family-oriented event, where 100 families had the opportunity to create lifelong memories and benefit the greatest student philanthropy in the world at the same time.”
