Goodbye Lynda.com, hello LinkedIn Learning: Penn State upgrades popular service

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In partnership with LinkedIn, Penn State Information Technology has upgraded the popular online learning and professional development platform used across the University.

Rebranded and updated, Lynda.com is now available to the Penn State community as LinkedIn Learning, featuring a new, easy-to-use interface, expanded course library and other interactive features that utilize the LinkedIn network. These insights, drawn from LinkedIn’s 575 million users, will help predict learning trends and deliver a more personalized learning experience to help all users meet their learning and professional development goals.

Longtime users of Lynda.com will notice some changes as they explore the service. Some features have a refreshed look and functionality thanks to a redesigned interface. Meanwhile, users who have previously shared Lynda.com links should review how these links work in LinkedIn Learning.

While the name and look are different, many of the features and capabilities Lynda.com users have grown used to are still available. All Lynda.com account histories – including completed courses, playlists and learning certificates – have been migrated as part of the upgrade.

Among LinkedIn Learning’s new features is the ability for users to connect their accounts with their LinkedIn profiles. Although it is not required to use LinkedIn Learning, making this connection will allow LinkedIn Learning to recommend courses based on your work history, skills and “likes” shared with LinkedIn.

A list of resources and FAQs can be found at linkedinlearning.psu.edu for users to get started.
