UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Healthy Penn State, an initiative led by Student Affairs’ Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW), is recruiting volunteers to serve as Healthy Penn State Ambassadors for the 2019-20 school year. Penn State students from all majors and minors who are interested in health promotion are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Sept. 6.

Healthy Penn State is a holistic approach to promoting well-being and encourages the development and maintenance of a sound body, mind and spirit. Healthy Penn State Ambassadors serve as role models for healthy behaviors on campus. Ambassadors participate in HPW outreach events, promote the program through social media, and speak with groups, clubs and student organizations about wellness-related services and programs.

As Healthy Penn State Ambassadors, participants will have the chance to build healthy relationships, expand networks, build resumes, and help to make a difference in their health and the health of fellow Penn State students. Students will work alongside health promotion staff and will learn strategies to promote health.

Those selected to become an ambassador must be able to commit to at least one semester. Requirements include attending the mandatory 8-hour training, 1-hour bi-weekly meetings, and volunteering 1 to 3 hours per week (at most) to Healthy Penn State activities.

Applicants should fill out the Healthy Penn State Ambassador form on the Student Affairs website by Sept. 6 and submit one copy of their unofficial transcript. Those with questions may stop by the Wellness Suite in 20 Intramural Building, call 814-863-0461, or e-mail promotinghealth@psu.edu.
