Inaugural Nittany Lion Fan Academy to be held Aug. 26

Event at Beaver Stadium will help fans learn traditions, cheers and songs

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics will host its inaugural Nittany Lion Fan Academy on Saturday, Aug. 26. The event will take place in Beaver Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. Fans can enter Gate B starting at 1 p.m. 

The event is free and open to the public. All fans – kids, adults and students – are welcome and encouraged to attend. The event will be a chance for fans to get game day ready, learning traditions, chants, cheers and songs that will be heard in Beaver Stadium and at all Penn State sporting events during the 2023-24 athletic year.  

The Blue Band, Nittany Lion mascot, cheerleaders and the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team will be on hand to teach fans the game day traditions and introduce new entertainment fans can expect at games this season. Penn State Football head coach James Franklin is scheduled to attend and address the crowd. Free T-shirts will be available for the first 5,000 fans, and shakers and posters will be available as well. 

Further information on parking will be released on gopsusports.com at a later date. 

 Penn State's football season opener will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, against West Virginia in Beaver Stadium. The game will be televised on NBC.
