UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As Penn State continues to plan for the resumption of in-person classes at University Park campus this fall, the University will utilize the Nittany Lion Inn on campus for additional classroom space and single-occupancy housing for on-campus resident students.
The University had previously announced the Nittany Lion Inn would serve as isolation spaces during the coronavirus pandemic.
Penn State will shift its planned isolation space for students at University Park campus to 400 rooms in the Eastview Terrace residence hall complex. The residence hall’s seven buildings normally house more than 800 students. Built in 2004, Eastview Terrace provides each resident a single room with a private bath.
Officials said that the Nittany Lion Inn, which regularly hosts conferences and other gatherings, contains facilities and equipment that will offer Penn State additional space for classes on campus. Opened in 1931, the Nittany Lion Inn contains 233 guest rooms.
