UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Lion Ambassadors will light up the night -- and campus -- with lantern-led walking tours through Penn State’s history.
The annual Lantern Tours event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Walking tours through part of campus will leave continuously from Old Main, highlighting major events in Penn State’s past.
“As participants travel through campus, they will learn about Penn State’s history and the famous people who have shaped our University,” said Lion Ambassadors President Brandon Johnson. “At the conclusion of our tours, participants will also have the ability to climb Old Main’s bell tower.”
The Lantern Tours event is free and open to the public. In addition to walking tours, the event will include an appearance by the Nittany Lion, as well as performances from Savoir Faire, NOTA, and the Penn State Juggling Club. Special guests also include the raptors and reptiles from Shaver’s Creek.
The Penn State Lion Ambassadors are the student alumni corps of the Penn State Alumni Association who aim to communicate the University’s history, personality and traditions to students, alumni and friends through tours and programming. Founded in 1981, the Lion Ambassadors serve as an important facet of student outreach for the Alumni Association. For more information, visit www.lionambassadors.com.
