UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Downtown State College will play host to LION Bash from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29. LION (Living In One Neighborhood) Bash aims to teach both Penn State students and Borough residents about the community and the services and ordinances in place that help to make State College a safe and enjoyable place to live.

This year’s program will be an expansion of what has been seen the last three years, with events taking place on both the 100 and 200 blocks of South Allen Street.

The event, a partnership between Penn State’s Office for Student Orientation and Transition Programs, the Downtown State College Improvement District, Neighborhood Associations, and the Borough of State College, will feature nearly 100 engagement stations run by community members, local organizations and businesses, and campus organizations. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how these groups and organizations are helping to improve our community. There will also be opportunities to win prizes, including an iPad and gift cards to local businesses.

Two stages will also feature live performances from The Adorabulls, Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats, Velveeta, as well as Penn State student groups. Food will be available from Rita’s Italian Ice, El Gringo Taco Truck, and Ye Olde College Diner.  Attendees are also encouraged to visit one of the many local eateries in the downtown area during their visit to LION Bash.

The Office for Student Orientation and Transition Programs is run jointly by Penn State Student Affairs and Penn State Undergraduate Education.
