UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Researchers at Penn State’s High-Pressure Combustion Laboratory on the University Park campus will continue ongoing small-scale detonation experiments during the week of Aug. 22. Each test will generate a single, short, loud impulse noise that may be noticeable outside the test facility. The next round of testing will occur between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, with two or three detonation experiments expected.

The testing will be conducted at the High-Pressure Combustion Lab Outdoor Test Facility near the Ken Kuo High-Pressure Gas Lab Building, which is located on the southwest side of Big Hollow Road, between Services and Tower roads, behind the Intramural Fields and Lion Surplus.

Test plans and this notification procedure have been developed in consultation with Environmental Health and Safety at Penn State.
