UNIVERITY PARK, Pa. — For many people, buying a home will be the single biggest financial investment of their lives. In what is almost always a whirlwind and somewhat stressful process, there are many pitfalls to buying a home. It’s also a process filled with industry-specific jargon presented by various entities from real estate agents to mortgage brokers.
Join the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center for a no-cost webinar at noon on April 9 for an overview of the process. Click here for the link. Additionally, self-study modules are available from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.” Webinars and resources are available to all members of the Penn State community.
Attendees will learn about the key terms they need to know, the components of a mortgage, an overview of the search process for first-time buyers, ways to improve their chances of getting a good mortgage, and the amortization schedule for a mortgage.
The next webinar on April 23 will cover FICO scores.
