University administrators were made aware of a false report on social media indicating that there was a possible case of COVID-19 at University Park. This report is not true and Penn State leaders urge you, if you have concerns, to check https://sites.psu.edu/virusinfo/ regularly for updates on the issue and how the University is responding — the site can also be accessed off the Penn State News and Penn State homepage. As information can be falsified easily on social media we recommend you bookmark one of these sites to secure the most accurate and up-to-date information from the University.
The safety of all students, faculty and staff traveling internationally is our utmost priority. Penn State health and safety officials and the University’s Infectious Hazards Planning Group are monitoring the global novel coronavirus outbreak and its implications for international travel closely as part of the University’s standard practice of monitoring global events that could impact the safety of our community and any international travel for the Penn State community. The University is and will continue to provide guidance as this situation evolves. Further, Penn State consults a variety of official sources in developing its guidance, including the U.S. Department of State, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the United HealthCare Global World Watch intelligence database (requires Penn State login), as well as other U.S., international and NGO agencies.
