Parents and Families Weekend to be held virtually Oct. 2-4

Save the date -- more information to come mid-September

Penn State's annual Parents and Families Weekend is an opportunity for parents and families to spend time with their student, explore campus resources and experience Penn State's rich history. This year, the event will be held virtually and will feature new and innovative programming. The University hopes that even more families will be able to take part through the new delivery method. Photo taken at Penn State Parents and Families Weekend, Oct. 2019 Credit: Penn State / Penn StateCreative Commons

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In an effort to help protect the health and safety of the University community, including students and their families, and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Penn State Parents Program will host the annual Parents and Families Weekend in a virtual format this fall.

Parents and Families Weekend, scheduled Oct. 2-4, provides parents and families with an opportunity to learn more about resources available at the University, and to engage in virtual events, tours, and learning opportunities which provide a glimpse into Penn State’s rich student experience.

“We are creating fun and engaging events that will include innovative programs for everyone to enjoy from the safety and comfort of their home,” said Cyndy Hill, director of the Penn State Parents and Families Program. “From virtual tours and college events, to programs that highlight the talents and skills of our students, we think you will enjoy the event. We are especially excited that the virtual format is more accessible for families who could not otherwise travel to campus.”

In addition to the event, the Parents and Families Program will offer Family Care Packages for both families and students, which will soon be available for purchase, and for delivery in late Sept./early Oct. Each family package will include special Penn State items, a car magnet, and additional University-branded items; student packages will include a special Penn State gift, and other spirit items.

“We hope you will make plans to participate in a weekend of fun, informative and engaging virtual events that aim to offer an enjoyable Parents and Families Weekend experience,” said Hill.

More details, including a schedule and registration information, will be available on the Parents and Families Weekend website in mid-Sept. Questions about the event may be directed to the Penn State Parents Program at parents@psu.edu.
