Parking, traffic and transit changes for University Park student departure

Student departure vehicle loading will be permitted along the east side of Burrowes Road between Pollock Road and Curtin Road. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To accommodate vehicle loading near residence areas for spring semester student departure, several parking, traffic and transit impacts will be in place across Penn State's University Park campus.

Monday, April 29, through Sunday, May 5

Student parking lots and the following faculty/staff parking areas will permit 20-minute loading with vehicle four-ways on:

  • Brown E
  • Green C
  • Green N
  • Yellow H Softball
  • Yellow J
  • Yellow T
  • Yellow D surface lot 

The following faculty/staff parking areas will be reserved for student departure vehicle loading only, and all permit holders must park in the alternative parking areas listed below:

  • Brown E: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck; Green B motorcycle spaces south of the Nittany Lion Inn
  • Green C: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck; Green B motorcycle spaces south of the Nittany Lion Inn
  • Green N: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck; Green B motorcycle spaces south of the Nittany Lion Inn
  • Yellow H Softball: Permit holders must park at other Orange lots, Jordan East, Stadium West, or Porter North (will reopen at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 4)
  • Yellow J: Permit holders must park at Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West
  • Yellow T: Permit holders must park at Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West
  • Yellow D surface lot: Permit holders must park at East Parking Deck; Yellow D motorcycle spaces in Orange lots of the Commuter lots 

In addition to the above-mentioned lot closures, the ground level of the East Deck will be reserved for student departure vehicle loading only through Saturday, May 5.

The affected lots will remain available to University vehicles, reserved spaces and permit holders with a valid ADA placard or license plate.

Traffic impacts

Fraser Road will be restricted to northbound traffic only from Monday, April 29, through Sunday, May 5, with entrance via Pollock Road and the bollards removed to allow exit to Curtin Road.

Student departure vehicle loading will be permitted along the east side of Burrowes Road between Pollock Road and Curtin Road. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Burrowes Road, but drivers are asked to avoid this area if possible.

Transit impacts

Due to expected heavy traffic and on-street vehicle loading on Burrowes Road, there will be no CATA service on Burrowes Road from Thursday, May 2, through Saturday, May 4. This will impact the following stops and routes:

  • CATA stops at Deike Building, Waring Commons, Rec Hall, Westgate Building, and Elliott Building (White Loop and HU routes impacted).
