UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Transportation Services announced today (March 6) that it has selected ParkMobile as the official mobile parking provider for the University Park campus.
ParkMobile is the most widely used mobile parking solution in the country, with more than 18 million people using the app over 60 million times per year across more than 400 cities, including the Borough of State College. While those who have parked in downtown State College may be familiar with ParkMobile, Transportation Services’ use of the app will be targeted toward more campus-specific needs.
For events hosted at the Bryce Jordan Center and select events hosted at other campus venues, drivers will be able to use ParkMobile to reserve parking in advance. This feature will be available this spring, starting with the sold-out U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials April 4-5. Fans attending this event can make a parking reservation in the app or at parkmobile.io.
ParkMobile will also be available for conference, camp, and special guest parking on campus, with additional options for evening and weekend ADA-access visitor parking. The app will also be available for limited on-demand parking at select locations.
The launch of ParkMobile service at Penn State expands the company’s footprint across Pennsylvania, as ParkMobile is already widely used in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster and more. More than a million people use the ParkMobile app in Pennsylvania, and that number has grown 211% over the past two years. Beyond the state, ParkMobile is available in most major cities, including New York, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Atlanta and Miami Beach.
"The ability for visitors to pre-purchase event parking online through ParkMobile for many Penn State events will be a well-received addition to our service offerings," said Ryan Givens, associate director for Penn State Transportation Services. "Our partnership with ParkMobile will also provide our team with additional tools to help us better serve our customers."
“We are very excited to partner with Penn State on this innovative parking program,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile. “We work with over 125 colleges and universities across the country, so we have the expertise to create a better parking experience across campus.”
