UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Paul Robeson Cultural Center (PRCC), a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, will host its annual Women of Color Empowerment Symposium. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 26 at the Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center.

The symposium’s goal is for women of color to come together and engage in critical dialogue around impactful topics while building community with each other.

Register for the event by March 22.

This year, the event’s theme is “I will determine my story” and will feature three speakers.

Dr. Cybele Pacheco, the keynote speaker, is a board-certified Geisinger Department Director for Primary Care Services and Medical Director of Quality and Innovation for Primary Care. Her session will address the key role that women play in leadership positions and health care equity. Attendees will learn about the barriers for women to achieve equality in political, academic, corporate, and Hollywood leadership positions and discuss ways to break such barriers.

Rhoda Moise will host a personal and professional development session focused on mental well-being to overcome depression, stress, and anxiety. Moise holds a doctorate in prevention science and community health and has completed a 200-hour certification to teach ancient Egyptian yoga.

Ashley Adams is the CEO and founder of Mentor Me, a career development company. Adams will discuss how professional women may be their own bosses, make more money, and advance to the highest levels of leadership.

The PRCC provides programs and support services to encourage and cultivate the appreciation and celebration of the diverse perspectives, experiences, and cultures of many under-represented communities at Penn State. Located at 21 HUB-Robeson Center, the PRCC is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
