UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Caribbean Student Association presents the 42nd Annual Caribbean Experience, "The Essence of the Isles," on Feb. 23 in the Alumni Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m., featuring Jamaican reggae singer Gyptian. The event is ticketed and open to the public.
The Annual Caribbean Experience aims to help the Penn State community learn about the diversity in the Caribbean, showcasing the food, culture, music, performances and fashion of the Caribbean culture and the different countries throughout the West Indies.
"The 42nd Annual Caribbean Experience encompasses learning about our past to see a way into the future while showcasing our different diversities and cultures from around the Caribbean," said CSA student Nikia Bassier. "We will do this through experiencing diverse food from different islands. We will give each of our guests a tasteful presentation so they can see that even though we are ‘many islands, we are still one body.'"
