Penn State COVID-19 dashboard updated with testing data through May 6

University to begin updating dashboard on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning week of May 10

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s COVID-19 dashboard has been updated to show the results of University-provided coronavirus testing at all campus locations through May 6. Over the last seven days at University Park, 1,663 total tests have been administered, resulting in 55 positive cases, for a total seven-day positivity rate of 3.3%. This includes 52 student positive results from 1,580 student tests performed (3.3% positivity rate) and three employee positives from 83 employee tests (3.6% positivity rate).

The total seven-day positivity rate for on-demand testing at University Park is 3.6% (3.6% among students and 5% among employees). From random testing at University Park, the total seven-day positivity rate is 0.6% (0.7% among students and no employee positive results).

Testing at all other Penn State campuses over the last seven days has resulted in 15 total positive results (15 students and no employees) out of 276 total tests administered (214 student tests and 62 employee tests).

When a positive case is identified, Penn State moves quickly to conduct contact tracing to identify close contacts, and impacted students are placed in isolation or quarantine to limit further spread of the virus. At University Park, there are currently 36 students in on-campus quarantine and isolation housing, representing 9% of the total 400-room quarantine and isolation capacity at Eastview Terrace. There are currently 12 students in quarantine and isolation housing at other Penn State campuses.

Beginning the week of May 10, the University’s COVID-19 dashboard will be updated twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will follow that schedule for the remainder of the summer.

On campuses that have more than 25 students living in residence halls, students living on campus who are not fully vaccinated will be required to complete a COVID-19 test weekly starting after summer session begins and continuing through the summer. These students will receive a weekly reminder to complete the test at a designated site on their campus.

Unless they have been vaccinated, regular use of voluntary testing is strongly encouraged for any student living near any Penn State campus or employees that are working on campus in May and throughout the summer. At University Park, drop-in testing will be available in May at Pegula Ice Arena and the Hintz Family Alumni Center. The Hintz Family Alumni Center test site will close for the summer in June. At all Commonwealth Campuses, student tests will be distributed by the student health center or designated office, or ordered through the mail via the Vault Health mail-in test kit. Students should contact their campus student health center or office of student affairs for more information.
