UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- As University task groups continue planning for a phased return to on-site work, Penn State supervisors and their employees who must work on-site partially or fully can familiarize themselves with key instructions, resources and guidelines on how to safely return to their workplace via a new website, provided by Penn State Human Resources.
While all University employees who are currently working remotely should continue to do so, University leadership recognizes the need for certain units to return employees to on-site work. The “Return to Work” website provides guidance for supervisors and unit leaders to prepare and gather resources for returning employees to work, as well as instructions on a new authorization process that is required before any employee may resume on-site activities. Supervisors who lead teams, ranging from small work groups to partial or full units, that must operate on-site (either partially or fully) must review all provided information and complete the formal approval process. No member of the University community is permitted to return to the workplace without approval from their supervisors.
The work authorization form, along with the guidelines and safety protocols outlined on the “Return to Work” website, provides supervisors and unit leaders with the necessary structure to safely return a limited number of employees to the workplace. The approval process also provides University leadership with essential information on the distribution of employee populations at all campuses and locations, enabling oversight of on-site activities for safety.
