UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Homecoming will host an online version of the Legacy Celebration, which will take place from April 22–24. In light of Penn State’s transition to remote learning for the reminder of the spring semester, the Legacy Celebration will be held via Penn State Homecoming’s social media accounts, @psuhomecoming on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
This year will mark Penn State Homecoming’s 10th annual Legacy Celebration. Similar to past years, the Legacy Celebration celebrates the reveal of the annual Homecoming logo. The event also is devoted to celebrating the successes of the academic year and exciting the Penn State Community for the upcoming semester and Homecoming week, which will take place Oct. 10-18.
The online Legacy Celebration will feature several ways to virtually celebrate Penn State, with each of the three days of Legacy being devoted to a different cause. Throughout Legacy, participants can use the hashtag #LeaveYourPSULegacy on all social media platforms when sharing your photos and videos to stay connected to Penn State Homecoming’s Legacy events.
The three-day Legacy Celebration will feature the following events:
Wednesday, April 22 – Theme: Alumni Recognition
- 10 a.m. – Alumni Video Contest opens: Take a video of you and your family showcasing your Penn State pride and why you love Penn State. The winning video will receive a prize: Enter to win by posting with the hashtag #LeaveYourPSULegacy. The deadline to submit a video is 11:59 p.m on April 22.
- Noon – This of That: Penn State edition
- 3 p.m. – Alumni Merchandise Sale
- All Day – Alumni Court Nominations Open
Thursday, April 23 – Theme: Seniors, Leave Your Legacy
- Noon – Penn State Homecoming Bingo Board, @psuhomecoming Instagram story
- All Day – #LeaveYourPSULegacy: Post a video sharing your favorite Penn State memory on social media. Tag three friends and use the hashtag #LeaveYourPSULegacy.
Friday, April 24 – Theme: The 2020 Penn State Homecoming Logo
- Noon – Release of the Penn State Dance Organizations Highlight Reel
- 1 p.m. – Release of the “PSU, We Love You” Video
- 2 p.m. – Alumni Video Contest Winner Reveal
- 3 p.m. – Logo Reveal: Tune in to Penn State Homecoming social media to celebrate the reveal of the 2020 Homecoming Logo
- 3:30 p.m. – 2020 Logo Merchandise Reveal
- 4:15 p.m. – Power Remix: Penn State Homecoming and Penn State Campus Recreation Fitness and Wellness present “Legacy Power Remix!” Join us for a Penn State themed virtual Power Remix on the @pennstatecrec Instagram story.
Penn State Homecoming is a student-run organization that aims to celebrate tradition and instill pride in all members of the Penn State family through active engagement of students, alumni, faculty and staff across the community. The organization is comprised of many student volunteers who donate their time to creating a multitude of events that make the Homecoming celebration a yearlong event.
