UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State issued its annual drinking water quality report on Monday, April 23. Penn State routinely monitors the University’s drinking water, and the full report can be viewed on the Office of Physical Plant (OPP) website.
Penn State operates its own potable water system and wastewater treatment facilities. More than 800 million gallons of potable water is supplied annually to the University Park community. Penn State’s water is treated at the University’s Water Treatment Plant and tested at multiple locations to ensure community safety. The University’s holistic water-management strategy includes the wise use of this valuable resource.
To ensure that tap water is safe to drink, both the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection prescribe regulations to limit the amount of contaminants in water provided by public systems. Those with questions about the report or water utilities can contact Jim Hosgood, water services supervisor, at 814-863-6187. The report can be found on the OPP website.
