Penn State president to attend Ostermayer Laboratory ribbon cutting

McKEESPORT, Pa. -- Penn State President Eric J. Barron and Penn State Greater Allegheny Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Jacqueline Edmondson will preside at the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for Greater Allegheny’s renovated Ostermayer Laboratory at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9.

The ceremony will take place on the Penn State Greater Allegheny campus, Ostermayer Building, 4000 University Drive, McKeesport, Pennsylvania.  Joining Barron and Edmondson will be McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko and Representative Austin Davis, 35th District, Allegheny County.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, student Lion Ambassadors will host building tours.  Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs will be in lab spaces to demonstrate and discuss their work.

The $14 million science building renovation is the largest conducted in Penn State Greater Allegheny’s history.  Faculty and students began using the space on Monday, Aug. 23 the first day of the Fall 2021 semester.
