UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Starting this week, the University is launching a special series of videos highlighting the Penn State Values and people who live and strive for them every day.

The videos are part of a broader initiative promoting the Penn State Values — Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, Excellence and Community — which represent Penn State’s core ethical aspirations for what we do every day as students, faculty, staff and volunteers. The Values were developed over a four-year period that included a survey, town hall meetings and ongoing feedback from across the community.

To start this initiative, Ramon Guzman Jr., a senior in education and public policy, explains why he thinks the Values are important and what they mean to him.

“I think our community needs to understand our values, and they need to understand how to act on our values, how to embody our values, and to remember that our values aren’t just while we’re Penn State students or while we’re Penn State faculty or staff or administration. Our values go on with us,” Guzman says.

The University will be highlighting one of the Values each week, starting with Community on Feb. 8 in Penn State Today and across other platforms. For Penn State, Community means: “We work together for the betterment of our University, the communities we serve, and the world.”
