Beginning today, Penn State Today is holding a monthly photo contest for the University community, open to students, faculty and staff at all Penn State locations. Our team will announce a new theme each month, and the winning photo and the best runners-up will be featured on Penn State Today and Penn State’s social media platforms.

Submission guidelines are available here. Photographers of all skill levels are invited to participate. No need for a fancy camera -- the cell phone in your pocket will do the job. Please be sure to read our submission guidelines, and happy photographing!

AUGUST 2016: Your favorite campus summer shot

Send us your best summertime photograph from your home campus. These could be photos of beautiful campus landscapes or landmarks; of our students, faculty and staff in action; of the hustle and bustle of move-in weekend; or other photos that embody the summer months at Dear Old State.

Submission deadline: 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

-- Send your photo by email to: news@psu.edu. Use the subject line “photo contest.”
-- Limit submissions to one photo per person per month, please.
-- Include a brief caption describing the contents of the photo (who, what, when and where). Our team may get back to you if more details are needed.
-- Include your name.
-- If you’re a student, include your home campus, major and class standing (freshman, sophomore, etc.), and your hometown.
-- If you’re a member of the faculty or staff, include your home campus and your department/unit.
-- Using built-in filters and color adjustments is acceptable, but altering photos by adding or removing objects/elements is prohibited.

Submit photos only if they were taken by you. By submitting an image, you attest to your ownership of the image. You also agree that Penn State has the right and license to redistribute the image, royalty free, on its various communications platforms, including but not limited to Penn State Today, Penn State News and various official social media platforms.

Please send questions to news@psu.edu.
