UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University Police and Public Safety advises Penn State football fans that Penn State police will be operating an authorized drone in and around Beaver Stadium as part of home football game police operations.

Fans inside and outside the stadium may notice the drone operated by the University Police and Public Safety Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit, or drone unit, beginning Aug. 31 for the University of Idaho game.

Authorities have obtained the appropriate permissions from the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct this operation, which is part of the overall public safety mission for game days.

The University reminds fans that members of the public cannot operate personal drones in or around Beaver Stadium or on University property without proper authorization. Learn more about Penn State’s unmanned aircraft policy.

Additionally, University Police and Public Safety reminds fans that if you see something, say something to authorities. Report suspicious activity to 814-863-1111 or call 911 in an emergency.
