UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Pure, a dining station on the second floor of Findlay Dining Commons that serves items that are free of the top nine food allergens and gluten, recently received AllerCheck certification, a trademark designating it as a verified allergen-safe location. The certification is granted by MenuTrinfo, the nation’s leading food allergy expert.
“I’m proud of the work that went into earning this certification, and the continuous care and effort the food service staff and management at East Food District put forth every day to reach this achievement,” said Katy Petrosky, corporate registered dietitian.
AllerCheck certification means that Pure has verified allergen-safe operations that are well-suited for open-dining environments and standard kitchens to mitigate cross-contact risks and allow people with allergies to dine with confidence. The dining staff worked with a third-party auditor to review documentation, staff knowledge and training, ingredients, recipes, cleaning schedules, service style and more before certification was awarded.
Pure, which is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, boasts a completely separate kitchen for preparation and cooking, designated utensils, cookware, equipment and dishwashing capabilities.
