PwC U.S. chairman, sr. partner to speak at Penn State Smeal's Executive Insights

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Timothy F. Ryan, U.S. chairman and senior partner of PwC, will share his thoughts on leadership and business with the Penn State Smeal College of Business on Tuesday, Feb. 28. His visit is part of Smeal’s Executive Insights series.

Ryan will take part in a moderated discussion with guest host Steven Huddart, Smeal Chair Professor in Accounting and department chair of accounting, from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. in the Struthers Auditorium, Room 110 of the Business Building. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required at www.smeal.psu.edu/insights.

Ryan’s visit is the final Executive Insights session this spring. Dr. Frank Alderman, co-founder and CEO of Med Express Urgent Care, visited the college on Feb. 3.

After studying accounting and communications at Babson College and earning a bachelor’s degree, Ryan joined PwC and has spent 27 years there. PwC is the second-largest multinational professional services firm in the world, employing more than 223,000 people in 157 countries.

Ryan was hired to a four-year term as U.S. chairman and senior partner in July 2016. Prior to that, he acted as vice chair and markets, strategy and stakeholders leader. He had responsibility for the firm’s strategy function and stakeholder relationships including investor relations, regulatory affairs, public policy, corporate responsibility and human capital.

Executive Insights is designed to complement the Smeal educational experience by bringing high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, staff and administrators. Past guests include leaders from organizations such as Archer Daniels Midland, BASF, Boeing, Credit Suisse, Dell, Deloitte, Dick’s Sporting Goods, EY, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Kohl’s, KPMG, Macy’s, MedExpress, National Retail Federation, Nestlé, Oracle, Procter & Gamble, Samsung, Siemens, Verizon, Tumi Holdings, Inc., and Urban Outfitters.
