UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State residence halls will reopen the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 28, to accommodate students, including those who will be in town for the final football game of the regular season.

Residence Halls will close for the Thanksgiving holiday starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 22. That impacts about 15,000 students who live on-campus. On-campus residences would typically reopen Sunday following the holiday. However, they will reopen at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28.

Conal Carr, director of housing operations, said some students may want to return for the game, others may be working game-day related jobs and, for others, returning to campus Friday rather than Sunday is easier.

“For those who want to come back, we certainly want to accommodate them,” Carr said.

Carr noted that separate accommodations are made for students who want to remain on campus over the holiday.

Penn State will play Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in what will be the Senior Day game and final game of the regular season.
