UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is reminding the University community of available resources for students, faculty or staff who are experiencing bias, intolerance or violence, or are struggling with current world events, as well as for those who are working to help.
For All
- Safe Walk Service: Available every day throughout the year, the Safe Walk Service at University Park campus offers a free Auxiliary Police walking accompaniment for students, employees and visitors who may feel unsafe walking alone on campus at night. Call 814-865-WALK (9255) to request a Safe Walk.
- Reporting biased or discriminatory behavior committed by an employee: Contact the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at 814-863-0471 or report a discrimination complaint online.
- Reporting biased or discriminatory behavior committed by a student: Visit the Report Bias website. For behavior that you believe may violate the University’s Code of Conduct, contact Student Accountability and Conflict Response.
- University Police and Public Safety: On the University Park campus, University Police can be reached at 814-863-1111 for non-emergencies, and at 911 for emergencies. At Commonwealth Campuses, a list of University Police offices can be found here. Individuals at Commonwealth Campuses should call 911 for emergencies.
- Red Folder initiative: The Red Folder initiative provides faculty, staff, student leaders and others who interact with students, the resources to help recognize and respond effectively to, and refer Penn State students in distress.

- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): Counseling and mental health services are available through CAPS, which can be reached at 814-863-0395 for University Park students, or at each Commonwealth Campus location.
- Center for Ethical and Spiritual Development: At University Park, the center offers a safe, inclusive environment for support as it promotes an environment of appreciate and respect for religious and spiritual diversity.
- Penn State Global: Penn State Global’s website provides information and support for international students.
- Student organizations: A number of student organizations across Penn State can offer support and resources. Students at Commonwealth Campuses can browse organizations by their campus location.
For Faculty and Staff
- Health Advocate: Penn State’s free employee assistance program provides resources and support for wellness and emotional well-being. Counseling is also available. Health Advocate can be reached at 866-799-2728 or online at healthadvocate.com.
