Security measures to impact travel to airport, hospital

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —  With the Trump campaign utilizing the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday for a rally, security measures will be put in place, including road closures, that will briefly impact travel to Mount Nittany Medical Center and the State College Regional Airport. Road closures are anticipated to be in place for a brief period between approximately 2 and 3:30 p.m. and 5 and 6 p.m.

During these necessary road closures, individuals traveling to Mount Nittany Medical Center should plan to access the hospital from Orchard Road or Interstate 99.

Motorists traveling to the airport should expect road closures surrounding Fox Hill Road and the State College Regional Airport. Travelers going to and from the airport are advised to avoid travel during the times above and plan additional time to reach their destination.

In addition, anyone who needs to travel to or through these areas or in the vicinity of the Bryce Jordan Center during this time should plan for possible delays in reaching their destination.

The Trump campaign has rented space for its event in accordance with University policies. According to policy AD92 Political Campaign Activities, candidates for office “may request to rent University facilities that otherwise are available for rent generally by external groups.” The campaign or candidate is responsible for paying the facility charge as well as ancillary service costs. The University applies this policy consistently and fairly, regardless of the candidate’s party or political views. The campaign event is not sponsored by the University or any University-affiliated group.
