UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Shake Smart’s two University Park locations are now open for business. Housed within the intramural Building and on the second floor of the White Building, both locations will be operational 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

Shake Smart’s menu showcases a variety of healthy and affordable food choices, including freshly blended protein shakes, organic acai bowls, cold brew coffee, wholly oatmeal, overnight oats, Greek yogurt and all-natural peanut butter & banana sandwiches. Shake Smart’s menu has been designed around four key components -- nutritious, delicious, affordable and convenient. Nearly all of Shake Smart’s menu is customizable to be vegan, vegetarians, gluten free or lactose free.

“After talking with other recreation colleagues, Campus Recreation leadership explored the option of bringing Shake Smart to Penn State to provide students a variety of healthy options,” said Senior Director for Campus Recreation Laura Hall. “Students can find vending machines throughout campus, but it’s far more difficult to find food and beverage options that fuel a workout or provide recovery post-workout. Pairing Shake Smart with our facilities simply was a smart thing to do. We have so many students through our facilities each day, and we wanted to provide them easy grab-and-go options that are also nutritious and delicious.”

Founded by two college students in San Diego in 2011, Shake Smart aims to make healthy eating more convenient and readily available for college students. The company believes that healthy eating should be an everyday habit, which is why all shakes are around a budget-friendly price point of $5, comparable to the price of going out for coffee. Shake Smart will be accepting all meal plans and Lion Cash+.
