UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students arriving at Penn State University Park for Summer Session II can take advantage of special events sponsored by Residential Dining.

Families are invited to dine with their students at Findlay Dining Commons and enjoy a special “family picnic” menu on Saturday, June 26, for a special guest rate of $8. The menu will feature favorites such as burgers, corn on the cob, and mac and cheese for lunch, and carved beef brisket with Texas barbecue sauce, cowboy beans and Cajun pasta for dinner. The chewy chocolate chip cookie, a Penn State perennial favorite, will also be available.

Jim Meinecke, associate director for Residential Dining, said campus is buzzing this week leading up to Summer Session II arrival.

“After the last 15 months, our entire team is eager to welcome parents and students back to campus this weekend,” Meinecke said. “We want to make this the best experience possible, and the family picnic and ‘Taste of East’ events offer great kickoff activities over the next week.”

During “Taste of East,” running June 28–July 2, students can get to know various dining locations and enter to win prizes. Students will receive a business-card-sized “passport” conveniently sized to keep in a phone wallet. Each time they visit a Residential Dining location, they’ll get a stamp on their passport. After they have visited all eight locations, students can enter to win prizes, including an Apple Watch, a $25 Lululemon gift card, and Penn State apparel.

Students can get their passports stamped at these locations:

  •  Flipps
  •  Market East
  •  Edge
  •  Bowls
  •  Deli
  •  Pizza/Pasta
  •  Penn State Eats (near Market East, first floor)
  •  PSreUsables at the Buffet

Prizes are provided courtesy of New Student Orientation.
