UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — There are still spaces available for enrollment in the prenatal breastfeeding classes offered on March 10, April 21 and May 5 through the Human Resource’s Breastfeeding Support Program.
Both classes are taught by an IBCLC — an international board certified lactation consultant — so all information provided is supported by the latest research. The IBCLC also draws on her experience from working with mothers and babies for over 15 years.
— PSU-140, Basics of Breastfeeding, covers information needed to prepare for breastfeeding during the early weeks. Topics include: establishing milk supply, positioning and latch, how to tell if baby is getting enough milk, and normal newborn behavior.
— PSU-141 Working and Breastfeeding, covers information related to combining work/student life and breastfeeding. Topics include: milk expression and storage, bottle feeding a breastfed baby, and planning for return to work or class.
To register for a class, visit the Learning Resource Network at https://lrn.psu.edu. Please note that LRN.psu.edu is the new registration system; emPOWER will no longer be used for class enrollment.
