UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Even though many people have experienced bias and discrimination, it still can be difficult to know exactly what to do when one sees such acts unfolding in front of them.

That’s why Stand for State, Penn State’s bystander intervention initiative, launched a new topic of intervention based on acts of bias and discrimination in January, adding to the initiative’s existing programming focused on sexual and relationship violence, mental health concerns, and risky drinking and drug use.

Two “Acts of Bias & Discrimination” trainings are being offering this spring for members of the Penn State community, allowing attendees to share their personal connections to the issue, explore the things that make it difficult to take action, and practice interrupting using scenarios.

The first training is designed for students and will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, in 233A HUB-Robeson Center.

The second training, designed for faculty and staff, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, in 233B HUB-Robeson Center.
