UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Student Affairs Green Team created an opportunity for all of Student Affairs to participate in a service event May 21. Folks were given the choice of serving at Trash to Treasure or the Bahr Pit on campus or at Centre Furnace in State College. Approximately 50 staff members attended the morning event, which started with comments from Vice President for Student Affairs Damon Sims, and then headed to their respective sites.

Those who volunteered for the Trash to Treasure site sorted items from the residence halls in preparation for the sale May 30 at Beaver Stadium.

Staff at Centre Furnace were given a tour of the mansion before heading to work in the gardens. Weeding the gardens was the priority for the day as well as other smaller groundskeeping work.

Folks at the Bahr Pit sorted batteries, filled landscaping areas with compost and removed screws from stadium backs to be recycled.

The Student Affairs Green Team hopes to make this an annual event with more participation next year.
