UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- From 6 to 7 p.m. (EDT) Thursday, April 8, the Student Farm Club at Penn State is hosting a virtual presentation called “Saving Your Garden’s Seeds: Tips for Saving and Why It Matters.” Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend to learn about this important skill. The event will be held via Zoom and is free and open to all. Registration can be found at: https://bit.ly/SFSeedSaving.

Marc Kepler will lead the event and talk about his experiences and advice for saving seeds, discussing which are worth saving and which he prefers simply to purchase. Kepler has been gardening for many years, and he is particularly interested in plant genetics. Seed saving offers many benefits: it saves gardeners money; it helps gardeners to be able to replant their favorite varieties; and it helps maintain genetic diversity within plants. Any questions regarding the event should be directed to Meg Mitchell at mpm5885@psu.edu.
