UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm at Penn State will once again be welcoming the campus and community to the farm for its sixth annual Harvest Festival. The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the intersection of Big Hollow Road and Fox Hollow Road on the University Park campus. All are welcome to come to the festival and celebrate the fall season with family and friends.
Featured activities at Harvest Fest will include a musical performance by Hops & Vines, farm-fresh food, distinguished guest speakers, farm tours, and an antique apple peeler. There will also be mini pumpkin painting for $1 and succulent planting for $5. Penn State students can participate in these activities for free, courtesy of the University Park Student Fee, by showing their students IDs. Nonstudents can pay with cash or check.
Harvest Fest is being organized by members of Student Farm Club. Audrey Subers, director of program communications for the Student Farm Club, has been working for months to ensure that this festival is the best one yet. The theme of the event is interpreting agriculture through art, history and storytelling, and there will be many stations for guests to learn about these ideas.
“We are so excited for this year’s Harvest Fest theme because it will demonstrate an artistic approach to capturing the significance of food and agriculture in all aspects of our lives,” Subers said.
After a virtual year, the farm team is excited to reconnect with friends over food, agriculture and sustainability. Claire Byrnes, executive director of the Student Farm Club, encourages all to attend, saying that this year’s Harvest Fest “will be a family-friendly event that brings together our community and campus to celebrate the start of the beautiful fall season.”

About the Sustainable Food Systems Program at Penn State
The Sustainable Food Systems Program houses Penn State’s Student Farm, Student Farm Club, Food Systems Minor, and Course-Client Collaborations. The goal of the program is to develop students’ knowledge about sustainable agriculture practices while providing hands-on learning opportunities and positively contributing to the community.
