Student organization hosts annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Council of Lionhearts, a student organization at Penn State, is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive. Last year, the Penn State and Centre County Community provided Thanksgiving meals to 400 families in need through the event.

Completed baskets should be delivered to the HUB Flex Theater, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Nov. 18 and 19. Interested participants may RSVP by visiting https://tinyurl.com/Y4E65UCU.

Potential basket items include:

  • $20 gift card or cash for local grocery store (for purchase of a turkey)
  • Basket to hold Items (for example, plastic storage bin)
  • Thanksgiving Day card from your group
  • Turkey gravy (12-oz. cans)
  • Turkey stuffing (one box)
  • Instant mashed potatoes mix  (one box or two 4-oz. packages)
  • Bread mixes (for example: pumpkin, gingerbread, etc.)
  • Bisquick (one 40-oz. box)
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Canned yams
  • Canned vegetables (for example: corn or peas)
  • Canned fruits
  • Pie crust mix (one box)
  • Pie filling (two cans)
  • Applesauce (one large jar)
  • Bottled beverages (e.g. juice that does NOT need to be refrigerated)
  • Decorative Thanksgiving napkins and plates (set of 6 each)
