ERIE, Pa. — There are few venues where a discussion of both artificial sweeteners and zombies would seem relevant and relatable.
But that’s what makes “Stuff You Should Know” special. It’s a podcast where literally anything is on the table for discussion.
On Thursday, Feb. 23, the show’s founders, Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant, will discuss the podcast when they visit Penn State Behrend as part of the campus' Speaker Series. Their presentation — “Stuff You Should Know” — will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the McGarvey Commons of the Reed Union Building. It is free and open to the public.
Founded in 2008, “Stuff You Should Know” is consistently ranked among the top 10 downloaded podcasts on iTunes with more than 5 million monthly downloads. Each episode covers a variety of topics from fields that include science, history, urban legends or pop culture. At the end of an episode, listeners should have basic working knowledge of that episode’s topic.
The podcast also led to the “Stuff You Should Know” television series, which aired for one season on Science Channel. The show followed Clark and Bryant inside and outside the recording booth while they produced the “Stuff You Should Know” podcast.
Clark and Bryant’s appearance at Penn State Behrend is made possible by the campus' Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund. For additional information, contact the Office of Student Activities at 814-898-6171.
