UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Student Programming Association (SPA) will present Tarana Burke, the ​founder of the "Me Too" movement and social justice activist, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, in the HUB-Robeson Center's Heritage Hall, as part of SPA's 2018 Distinguished Speaker series.

Tickets are available to students with a valid Penn State ID in Room 226, HUB-Robeson Center. Tickets are limited to two per student ID.

Burke will share the story behind the genesis of the viral 2017 TIME Person Of The Year-winning "me too" movement, and give strength and healing to those who have experienced sexual trauma or harassment. The simple yet courageous #metoo hashtag campaign has emerged as a rallying cry for people everywhere who have survived sexual assault and sexual harassment — and Burke’s powerful, poignant story as creator of what is now an international movement that supports survivors will move, uplift and inspire.

Since this event has received so much recognition and many people are interested in attending, the SPA Distinguished Speakers Series committee has opened up access to the event to anyone with a Penn State access ID at all of the Penn State campuses — in partnership with Penn State World Campus, SPA has arranged a livestream of the event at https://session.psu.edu/WorldCampus/burke/.
